Ball valves are particularly used when it is necessary to guarantee a perfect seal of the fluid to be intercepted: every kind of gas, liquid, semisolid and viscous substances, acids and corrosives.
These valves, due to the identical manufacture of their seal seats, guarantee a perfect seal in both directions; for this reason, no loss takes place when a flow inversion occurs in the pipeline.
For full bore valves, it is not necessary to take into account the flow direction during the installation on the pipe.
The ball is self-cleaning as it turns on the seats every time the valve is operated. No pressure drop takes place as the valve, when open, can be considered as a pipeline extension. Since all moving parts are mounted on self-lubricating materials, no lubrication is required.
Ball valves need a lower handling torque than any other type of valve at the same operating pressure. Moreover, opening and closing operations can be carried out very quickly, as only a quarter of a turn is necessary.
One of the main characteristics of these valves is the FIRE SAFE design, i.e. the metal to metal seal, in case the seal seats are destroyed by the fire.

Our S series valves are of SPLIT-BODY type with a body in two pieces having a tap-female centering which guarantees the alignment between the seats and a protection against the overload of stud bolts of the two bodies in case of stress or thermal deformations in the pipeline. These valves have a floating ball which is released from the drive stem: for this reason, the ball is forced against the opposite seat under the force of the fluid pressure acting on the entire surface of the ball, resulting in a perfect sealing.

Our T series valves are TRUNNION type with a three-piece body: a central body and two side bodies joint by stud bolts.
The ball is fixed by the stems and the two floating seal seats are spring loaded to grant the required tightness even at very low pressures; these two seal seats assure the bi-directional tightness at any valve pressure.

The valve body is available in the diameters 1.1/2" ÷ 32" either full bore or reduced bore. The body can be casted or forged.
The seal between the two bodies is made using a PTFE ring.
It can be supplied asbestos-free or in elastomer (NBR or VITON). In case of fire, the FIRE-SAFE type seal is provided.
The ball is the most important component of the valve.
The sphericity and the surface finish determine the good seal of the valve, the life of the seal seats and the necessary torque for its operation.
Seal is guaranteed in the two directions by the seal seats. Such seats are manufactured in a way that, during installation, are subject to an initial precharge which allows a perfect valve seal at both low and high pressures.
The seal on the stem is of self-adjustable typ and is formed by two elements: a teflon collar in direct contact with the fluid and an inner elastic ring (never incontact with the fluid) which guarantee th seal action at both low and high pressures. In case of need of stem seal replacement, thisoperation can be carried out without displacing the valve from the pipeline.

Th valvs are complete with radial and thrust bearings which reduce, during operation the friction caused by pressure

The drive stem is designed in a way that, in case of fire, it operates as FIRE_SAFE; morover the flange collar does not allow it to be blown out by pressure.
